Thinking of a quick and easy breakfast or dinner that will look classy at the same time? Look no further! This breakfast burrito recipe is easy to make and very tasty. It’s easy to get a ready made burrito from a fastfood, but for me, I like to know what’s in my food.

The breakfast burrito, sometimes referred to as a breakfastwrap outside of the American Southwest, is a variety of Americanbreakfast composed of breakfastitems wrapped inside a flour tortilla burrito. Burrito originates from New Mexico in the USA and it’s aslo a popular menu in major fastfood restaurants.

Breakfast burrito ingredients

Traditional burrito contains bacon/ground beef, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, refried beans, sour cream, and chili sauce. Scrambled egg, grated cheese, avocado are very common with homemade burritos. With just five ingredients, you can make yours from home easily. In this burrito recipe, I used tortilla wraps, grated cheese, mashed avocado, smoked bacon and scramble eggs.

For vegetarian or vegan burrito, replace smoked bacon with diced tofu, vegetarian sausage or quorn non-meat bacon.

Traditional burrito contains bacon/ground beef, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, refried beans, sour cream, and chili sauce. Scrambles egg, grated cheese, avocado are very common with homemade burritos.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium/large Tortilla wraps

  • 1/2 Ripe avocado

  • 50 grams/1 egg Scrambled egg

  • 2-3 Smoked bacon

  • Grated cheese

Directions

  • Place a tortilla on a chopping board, add cheese, scramble eggs, avocado and smoked bacon.
  • Wrap the tortilla together. You can seal it with raw eggs or use double wraps.
  • Place the tortilla wrap on a heated non-stick frying pan and toast both ways 2mins. The cooker should be on medium heat to get a perfect toast effect. You can add a little of olive oil on the saucepan before toasting but not necessary.
  • Cut into two halves and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can also make a twist by adding other ingredients to give it more flavour. Some of my favourite additions are, onion slices, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, roughly chopped coriander leaves or even jalapeno/grounded pepper for extra spiciness.

Is breakfast burrito healthy?

There are ways to make burrito healthier—the vegetarian version with meat-free bacon and having it in moderation or as an occasional treat won’t be seen as a bad healthy habit.

How do you roll or tuck in a breakfast burrito?

You can seal the tortilla for burrito with a raw egg (you can use egg leftover used for the scrambled eggs) or use double tortilla wraps leaving enough space at both ends.
